TOKYO, Japan, July 11th, 2008 – Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE), the world’s leading supplier of test equipment, today announces that it has been awarded continued membership of the FTSE4Good Global Index Series. It has been a constituent company in the index since March 2004. Advantest was recognized as meeting global standards of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices, including efforts in strictly
adhering to a code of conduct and in protecting the environment. The company remains committed to promoting sustainable development at both social and corporate levels, as well as improving corporate value further.

The FTSE4Good Global Index Series is an index offered by the UK’s FTSE Group, which is jointly owned by The Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange. The index is one of the leading standards used by socially responsible investors in selecting SRI products. The FTSE4Good series, which includes the FTSE4Good Global Index Series, applies strict, globally recognized corporate responsibility criteria to approximately 2,400 listed companies in 23 countries to assess their CSR practices. As of June 2008, the index has approximately 900 member companies worldwide, of which Japanese firms represent about 200.
