SANTA CLARA, Calif. – May 20, 2010 – Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE), the world’s leading supplier of semiconductor test equipment, announces it has earned a place on VLSIresearch’s 10 BEST supplier list for the 22nd consecutive year. Based on direct customer feedback from surveys representing 95 percent of the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturers – Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs), Fabless and Outsourced Assembly and Test (OSAT) producers – VLSIresearch ranks Advantest among the world’s 10 BEST large suppliers of chip making equipment in its annual customer-satisfaction survey which rates companies across thirteen categories of performance criteria.
Advantest has again earned its highest ratings in system Build Quality. The detailed results of the survey also show that it has achieved the highest rating among SoC test equipment suppliers for Cost of Ownership and the highest ratings in Uptime and Quality of Results among memory test equipment suppliers. Given the stringent quality standards and technically demanding parameters of semiconductor manufacturing, this is a significant achievement. “Advantest’s continual 10 BEST rating is a testament to the value that customers derive from working with a stable and innovative company – one which is committed to high standards of quality in product development, design, manufacturing and results,” said VLSIresearch president, Risto Puhakka. “It is clear that customers appreciate that Advantest is a well-managed company that can maintain consistently high levels of R&D, product introductions and high quality in this very cyclical industry.”
R. Keith Lee, president and CEO of Advantest America, Inc., noted the significance of the company’s continued high placement in the yearly VLSIresearch rankings. “In test and measurement for over fifty years, Advantest not only has adapted as the industry has evolved, but has been able to thrive in very challenging market and technology conditions,” explains Lee. “The current market dynamic of consumer product dominance, has placed a new impetus on reliability, quality, cost and time to market and we are gratified that we have been able to help our semiconductor customers meet these challenges. We are thankful to them for their continued support and for the trust and confidence they have in our capabilities.”
