....Global semiconductor companies give Advantest high marks in test quality and uptime; and rate company #1 in material handling equipment

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – May 20, 2011 – Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE), world’s leading supplier of semiconductor test equipment, announces it has been awarded with VLSIresearch’s coveted 10 BEST rating for the 23rd consecutive year. The rankings are based on direct customer feedback representing 95 percent of the world’s chip producers — Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs), Fabless and Outsourced Assembly and Test (OSAT) companies. According to VLSIresearch, world’s leading semiconductor market-research firm, Advantest ranks among the 10 BEST companies in three market segments: “Large Suppliers of Chip Making Equipment”, “Test Equipment” and “Material Handling Equipment.” The survey’s fifteen categories span a set of performance criteria, from cost of ownership to quality of results, field engineering support, trust and partnership.

In the test segment, Advantest earned its personal best ratings in categories of trust in supplier, quality of results, and uptime. And, in a dedicated survey on suppliers of material handling equipment, Advantest captured the top spot for the first time in its history, garnering the highest ratings of all material handling suppliers in eight categories, including, software, process support, field engineering, spares support, support after sales, commitment, trust in suppliers, and partnering.

Advantest, a global leader, designs and manufactures complete test solutions for SoC, logic and memory semiconductor devices, and is the only ATE company to offer a full suite of integrated test cell solutions. The test cells, comprised of testers, handlers, device interfaces, and software, offer the industry’s highest levels of integrity and compatibility.

“Advantest’s ability to sustain successful customer relationships over the long-term demonstrates its strength as an ATE business partner,” commented Risto Puhakka, president of VLSIresearch “Advantest is universally recognized for its ability to sustain product excellence and customer service, and the company’s ongoing success is a tribute to the value that customers place on working with a financially stable, innovative company,” he continued. “Able to adapt and prosper as the industry evolves; Advantest continues to add value to the industry with a steady stream of leading-edge technological contributions.”
