TOKYO, Japan, – April 27, 2011 – Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE) today announced that it has received the “Excellence in Environmental Management” prize in the 9th Japan Sustainable Management Awards, sponsored by the Japan Sustainable Management Awards committee and Mie Prefecture. This is the second consecutive year Advantest has been honored with this prize.
Established in 2002, the “Excellence in Environmental Management” prize recognizes efforts by Japanese companies to reduce emissions of gases contributing to climate change, among other criteria of excellence in environmental conservation and management.
Marking Advantest's acceptance of the prize, Noriie Arima, manager of CSR & Environmental Affairs Promotion Office said, “Advantest is honored by this recognition of our commitment to environmental management. In the past year, Advantest has proactively engaged with environment and climate issues through its Fifth Advantest Group Environmental Action Plan. In December 2010, the company's Western Japan Office in Suita-shi, Osaka, became its eighth Japanese facility and second sales, service, and administrative location to receive ISO14001 certification. Other facets of Advantest's broad environmental management efforts include expanded sales of its “Green Products,” which meet standards for elimination of hazardous substances, recyclability, and energy efficiency; and the company's new “ECOCH” program, which incentivizes employees and their families to conserve energy and protect the environment in their daily lives.
