Nature Observation Events Held at the Biotope

2018/10/25 Sustainability

Every year Advantest holds nature observation events for local elementary schoolchildren at the biotope located at the company’s Gunma R&D Center in Meiwa, Gunma Prefecture, with the goal of familiarizing children with nature. At the 2018 events, held on September 28 and October 2, 29 children from Meiwa Higashi Elementary and 70 children from Meiwa Nishi Elementary, respectively, gathered at the biotope. The children chased insects in the grasslands and caught crayfish of invasive alien species in the biotope’s pond, learning about nature through direct contact with animals and plants.

Advantest's biotope shelters more than 100 species of animals and plants, including semi-threatened species, in a rich natural environment composed of forests, a pond, grasslands, and streams. The company is committed to sharing the biotope with our neighbors through these nature observation events and other activities, and will continue to offer educational support for the next generation as a contribution to our local community.
