Advantest’s Former President Hiroshi Oura Dies at 88

Hiroshi Oura, former president, chairman, and representative director of Advantest Corporation, died on October 11th, 2022, at the age of 88.

The funeral will be limited to family and close friends. Advantest will hold a memorial ceremony at a future date, details of which will be forthcoming. The family wishes respectfully to decline all offers of condolence payments, flowers, and other gifts.

Mr. Oura was born on February 14, 1934. He graduated in 1956 with a law degree from Tokyo University, and joined Fujitsu Corporation the same year. He became a director of Fujitsu in 1985, and a managing director in 1988. In 1989 he moved to Advantest as representative director and president. In 2001 he became chairman, while continuing in the role of representative director until 2005, when he stepped back to become a director and advisor. In 2007 he became an advisor, and in 2010 an honorary advisor, a role he continued to hold until his retirement in 2018.
