Advantest Upgraded to "AA" in MSCI ESG Rating

TOKYO, Japan – March 14, 2023 – Leading semiconductor test equipment supplier Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857) today announced that it has received an "AA" rating for the first time in the 2023 MSCI ESG Rating. The company's rating was upgraded from "A" based on a positive evaluation of its ESG initiatives.

The highly-regarded MSCI ESG Ratings “aim to measure a company’s management of financially relevant ESG risks and opportunities,” according to MSCI. Through analysis of environmental, social, and governance initiatives, companies are ranked as leaders (AAA, AA), average (A, BBB, BB) or laggards (B, CCC). 2023 marks the first year Advantest has been ranked as a Leader.

The company was recognized in particular for its governance initiatives, such as an executive remuneration system that promotes the interests of shareholders.

Additionally, Advantest was selected in December 2022 as a component of the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, a major ESG investment index that the Government Pension Investment Fund for Japan (GPIF), one of the world’s largest pension funds, has adopted as a benchmark for their ESG investment strategy.

Advantest will continue to promote sustainability through ESG initiatives as a fundamental part of the company’s management philosophy, aiming to contribute to the common good and improve corporate value over the medium to long term.
