Munich, Germany, 10.11.2016 – Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857), a world leader in the design and manufacture of sophisticated test and measurement equipment, is showcasing its new “Hadatomo™” photoacoustic microscope at the Medica World Forum for Medicine, taking place from November 14 -17, 2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany. Hadatomo utilizes a proprietary hybrid imaging technology to enable non- invasive imaging of blood vessels in the dermis to a depth of 3mm. Since its introduction one year ago, Hadatomo has drawn interest from practitioners in fields of regenerative and dermatological medicine, and praise for its applications in cosmetic and plastic surgeries.

Hadatomo model WEL5100 will be demonstrated within the Bayern Innovative GmbH area in Hall 3/E83, and also within the Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation in Hall 16/B51.

Photoacoustic imaging combines the propagation characteristics of ultrasound and the absorption characteristics of light into a new hybrid imaging method. By using ultrasound technology, it can obtain accurate information to a depth of several millimeters: Hemoglobin selectively absorbs the energy of light and returns ultrasonic waves to the surface of the skin, where they can be captured by sensors. The information thus obtained can be displayed numerically and as a high-contrast map of blood vessels in the dermis.

Key specifications include of the Hadatomo Photoacoustic Microscope include:
