The Advantest Group took part in the 5th Forest Conservation Project at the Yasuragi-no-Mori Forest in Kusatsu (Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture) for two days on October 21st and 22nd.
We participated in this activity as part of the Yasuragi-no-mori Maintenance Project organized by the Forestry Agency in Japan. The Advantest Group has been supporting this activity from the perspectives of preserving biodiversity and increasing our employees’ awareness of the importance of their social and environmental contributions.
Twenty-two employees from our company volunteered to participate in this project this year. After receiving some instructions on the procedures from the staff of the Agatsuma District Forest Office, the volunteers engaged in their work to thin the forest trees and clean up the fallen timbers. Although cutting down the trees one by one required tremendous effort and skills, many of the volunteers had already participated in this project and accumulated their experience in the previous years, and they were able to work their ways smoothly this time. After this tree thinning, the previously-neglected forest will revive and become a healthy forest with its capacities of absorbing carbon dioxide and cultivating its natural water sources.
Some participants expressed that “This brought me a valuable experience in contacting with nature” and “I hope that this project will go on for the purpose of protecting nature.”
The Advantest Group will continue to participate in the activities to protect and nurture our natural environment in the future.
