On March 25th, the employees of Advantest (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (ASP) took a tour at the NEWater Visitor Center as part of our company's environmental education.
This Center, opened in February 2003, is a public organization which offers education on NEWater (recycled wastewater). There are four types of service water in Singapore: imported water, rain water, demineralized water and recycled water, which is the type of NEWater.
Visitors can learn the importance of water and the technologies to recycle and reuse wastewater at this Center. The wastewater is recycled into clean water by using the technologies such as fine filtration, reverse osmosis and sterilization by the ultraviolet rays. This recycled water currently amounts to 30% of the total service water in Singapore. However, Singapore is pushing the plan to reach the ratio of 50% by Year 2060.
By touring through various exhibits in the Center, the ASP employees understood that a large amount of effort has been made, and will be made in the future, to secure and maintain clean water.
ASP hopes to pursue and achieve what we can do by ourselves such as saving water, so that we will be secured with valuable water.
